My First Meme
NGO Manager recently asked me to write something on information management for NGOs for their newsletter, which forced me to think a bit. As everybody knows, I hate thinking. Specifically, I had to think about the five resources that I would recommend to anybody working in an NGO who wanted to know about information management and technology but didn’t know where to start.
So here’s my meme: what five resources – online or otherwise – would you point people to, if you wanted to give them an entry into your field of expertise?
First push: to Nancy, Sanjana, Jennine, Taran and Declan.
[...] Paul’s linked me in a post that first had me scouring for a definition of “meme”. I found two useful definitions – one on Wikipedia and another on a website called Meme Update #3. [...]

I saw Nancy’s response and made one of my own, then I created OPML files for her favorite blogs on her field and mine. If you’re unfamiliar, an OPML file is a file and URL you can use to subscribe to multiple RSS feeds all at once. It’s pretty handy and Nancy wanted me to make sure you knew about it.
My 2 cents on this are are at http://marshallk.com/a-meme-your-top-sources-on-your-field
and I put the OPML file of Nancy’s favorites in the comments on this post of hers:
http://www.fullcirc.com/weblog/2006/02/oops-i-forgot-to-tag-people-for-pauls.htm
And I built an OPML file of the 5 blogs you linked to above (Nancy, Sanjana, Jennine, Taran and Declan) here:
http://www.marshallk.com/PaulCurrionFavs.aspx.xml
So readers can copy and paste that URL into their feed reader’s Import Subscriptions or OPML field and be subscribed to all of them. I did and thanks for the pointers to these folks!
Let me know if this needs any further clarification. OPML files are really neat, putting them together makes you feel like an editor of a living anthology on a given topic. Or at least it makes me feel that way!

Sorry, been busy. This is going to sound weird – but what do *you* think I’m an expert at? I kind of have a few different areas where I excel, and I’m not sure what you think of me as an ‘expert’ at…

Sorry I’m late to the party. I’m not a big fan of this ‘thinking’ thing, either, but this was an interesting idea for a meme.

Your meme is spreading ….and morphing. Nancy tagged me. We’re using the tag ngomeme.
I’m delighted to have discovered your blog and other resources. Some much fun to get out your geographical silo
